Q1) I am getting an error -132
when installing. What does this mean ?
A1) You
probably have a copy of the program running which you are trying to
install. Try closing the running application and try installing
again.
Q2) The program tells me I need
version 5 of the Windows Common Controls. Where can I
get them ?
A2) The
upgrade file is distributed as 50comupd.exe. You can search the
Microsoft site (www.microsoft.com) for it, or you can
download
it from
us.
NOTE : You can use the file
50comupd.exe to install the Windows Common Controls (Comctl32.dll version
5.70.x.y) on Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT 4.0. You cannot use
50comupd.exe for Windows 3.x, Windows for Workgroups 3.x, or Windows NT
3.x. You must install Service Pack 4 or later on Windows NT 4.0 before
installing 50comupd.exe. As with all operating system changes,
administrator privileges are required to use 50comupd.exe on Windows NT
4.0.
Q3) How can I tell what version
of the Windows Common Controls are currently installed on my
PC ?
A3) You can download and
run Castle Software's
CheckOsVer. CheckOsVer is small, free program which will report
your Operating System Version and also the version of the Windows
Common Controls installed on your Windows PC.
CheckOsVer is
completely free. You may use it and distribute it freely to
anyone you like.
Q4) What is Microsoft DAO
? Why do I need it ? Where can I get it ?
A4) Microsoft DAO (Data Access Objects) is a
Microsoft technology that applications can use to talk to databases.
MyListMate uses DAO technology to store the Products, Units, Categories, Prices
etc that you will set up. Therefore, MyListMate requires Microsoft DAO
v3.5 to be installed on your computer.
The installation program
for Microsoft DAO v3.5 is included in the MyListMate distribution.
If you want to download the installation program for DAO separately,
please see our Downloads page.
Q5) What is DCOM98 ? Why
do I need it ? Where can I get it ?
A5) DCOM98
extends the support for Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) for
Microsoft Windows 95 and Windows 98. It also upgrades some Operating System
components to the level needed to successfully install Microsoft DAO (Data
Access Objects).
When installing Microsoft DAO, some
users with older versions of Microsoft Windows 95 may encounter the
following error : "The OLE automation DLL, OLEAUT32.DLL, could not be found
or is a older version that is incompatible with DAO3.5. If you continue DAO will not register
properly.". If you encounter this error, you can download and
install DCOM98 from the Microsoft site and this will fix the above error.
You can download DCOM98 from
Microsoft at the following URL : http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom/dcom98/download.asp
The above URL is current as at
11 July 2001. If you have problems with this link, please perform a
search for DCOM98 on the Microsoft site. Drop us an email to let us
know if the URL becomes invalid.
