A number of aspects of
MyListMate can be configured by the user. These configuration options are
available in the Preferences dialog, which can be opened by choosing
Preferences from the Tools menu, or by clicking on the
button in the Main Toolbar.
The Preferences dialog is split into a number of tabs :

| General |
The General tab allows setting of some general options within MyListMate.
| Decimal places for Quantities | This combo box allows you to
choose the number of decimal places to be used when entering and
displaying quantities for products. |

| Calculator Program | This edit box determines the
calculator program to be executed when Calculator is chosen from the Tools
menu, or when the You can browse for the .exe file to use by clicking on the Browse |
|
| Ask for confirmation when deleting ? | If you want
MyListMate to ask you for confirmation when deleting a Store, Category,
Product or Unit, then check this option. Leave it unchecked if you
do not want to confirm delete operations. |

| Default Name | Defines the default name for
newly added products. When you add a product to the Product List,
this is the name that the new product will be given. |
|
| Units to Add | These four fields define the units to add to any new product added. There must be at least one unit defined here and if you do not define one then MyListMate will use Each. The first unit listed will be set as the default unit for the new product. | |
| Backup Options | See Backups below. |
| Backup Options |
Backup options are set on the General Preferences page.
Check the Automatically back up database to hard disk on exit if you want MyListMate to automatically back up the database when you exit the program. It is recommended that you check this option.
In the Save as edit box, you should specify the name of the file that you want MyListMate to use as the backup copy of the database.
If you want MyListMate to prompt you every time before performing the backup then you should check the Prompt me before backing up each time option.

| Images |

MyListMate provides a number of default images for Stores and Categories. However, you don't have to limit yourself to the default images. MyListMate allows you to provide images of your own for Stores and Categories.
Adding Images
Use
the Add All images that you add to MyListMate are copied to the UserImages folder beneath the folder where MyListMate is installed. |
A Note about Images
Images need to be Windows Bitmap (.bmp) files and should be 16x16 pixels. MyListMate will automatically resize any bitmaps you provide, however to ensure the final image is of the best possible quality, it is recommended that you make your bitmaps the correct size. |

Removing Images
To remove an image from a list,
simply select it and then click on the Remove
button.
| Printing |

MyListMate provides a lot of configuration for printing. You have a lot of control over what the list looks like when it is printed.
| Number of Columns | Your list can be printed
using 1 or 2 columns. NOTE. If you choose to print 2 columns, you should check your font sizes by performing a Print Preview prior to printing. If you have long product names, you may have to choose a smaller font so that products fit within the columns correctly. |

| Print Price | Check this box if you want
to print prices for the products on your list. NOTE. A total for the list will only be printed if this box is checked. |
|
| Page Break for Stores | Check this box if you want
each store to be printed on a new page. |
|
| Print List Name | Check this box if you want
the List Name, Date Created and Date Printed to be printed at the top of
the list. |
| Print Page Numbers | Check this box if you want
page numbers to be printed at the bottom of each page. |

| Print Column Headings | Check this box if you want
column headings (Product, Unit, Price, Qty) printed for each category. |

| Margins |
Some printers may cut off information printed close to the margins. Therefore extra margins (specified in dots) are provided so that you can adjust the printing of MyListMate lists. NOTE. If the list prints
OK initially, you should not need to adjust the margin values. |

| Store Font | MyListMate allows you to
specify the font used to print the Store names on the printed list.

| Product Font | MyListMate allows you to
specify the font used to print the Product names on the printed

Stores don't display their products in alphabetical order. Most stores display products in categories, with similar products alongside each other.
MyListMate allows you to choose the order that categories are printed on your list.
Changing the Print Order
To change the print order,
first add the desired categories from the Category list on the left to the Print
Order list on the right by using the add
button.
You can then move the
categories in the Print Order list up or down by selecting the category you want
to move, and then clicking on the Move Up
or Move Down
button in the toolbar.
Any categories that are not specified in the Print Order list will be printed after those categories that are specified in the Print Order list.

NewsAlert is a technology designed to bring you News, Tips and Updates for our products as quickly as possible.
You can have NewsAlert run automatically when MyListMate starts by checking the option Automatically run NewsAlert every time MyListMate starts. If you don't have NewsAlert starting automatically, you can still choose the Check for News or Check for Updates options from the Help menu at any time.
NewsAlert can work from behind a proxy server also. If you are using a proxy server, you should give NewsAlert information about your proxy by checking the Use Proxy Server option, and filling in the proxy fields.

IP address of your proxy server. |

| Port | The port used by
your proxy server for the Proxy Type you have selected. |

| SOCKS5 Authentication | If using the SOCKS5
protocol, your proxy server may require authentication. If so then
check this box and enter your User and Password details. |

| User | Your User name for
SOCKS5 authentication. |

| Password | Your Password for SOCKS5 authentication. |
