Preferences

A number of aspects of MyListMate can be configured by the user.  These configuration options are available in the Preferences dialog, which can be opened by choosing Preferences from the Tools menu, or by clicking on the button in the Main Toolbar.

The Preferences dialog is split into a number of tabs :

The General tab allows setting of some general options within MyListMate.

Decimal places for Quantities This combo box allows you to choose the number of decimal places to be used when entering and displaying quantities for products.

Calculator Program This edit box determines the calculator program to be executed when Calculator is chosen from the Tools menu, or when the button is clicked on the Main Toolbar.
You can browse for the .exe file to use by clicking on the Browse button to the right of the edit box.

Ask for confirmation when deleting ? If you want MyListMate to ask you for confirmation when deleting a Store, Category, Product or Unit, then check this option.  Leave it unchecked if you do not want to confirm delete operations.

Default Name Defines the default name for newly added products.  When you add a product to the Product List, this is the name that the new product will be given.

Units to Add These four fields define the units to add to any new product added.  There must be at least one unit defined here and if you do not define one then MyListMate will use Each.  The first unit listed will be set as the default unit for the new product.

Images

TOP

MyListMate provides a number of default images for Stores and Categories.  However, you don't have to limit yourself to the default images.  MyListMate allows you to provide images of your own for Stores and Categories.

Adding Images

Use the Add button on the Additional Store Images list or on the Additional Category Images list to add your own images.  When the Add button is clicked, a dialog will appear, asking you to choose a .bmp file to add.

All images that you add to MyListMate are copied to the UserImages folder beneath the folder where MyListMate is installed.

A Note about Images

Images need to be Windows Bitmap (.bmp) files and should be 16x16 pixels.  MyListMate will automatically resize any bitmaps you provide, however to ensure the final image is of the best possible quality, it is recommended that you make your bitmaps the correct size.

Removing Images

To remove an image from a list, simply select it and then click on the Remove   button.

Number of Columns Your list can be printed using 1 or 2 columns.
NOTE. If you choose to print 2 columns, you should check your font sizes by performing a Print Preview prior to printing.  If you have long product names, you may have to choose a smaller font so that products fit within the columns correctly.

Print Order

TOP

Stores don't display their products in alphabetical order.  Most stores display products in categories, with similar products alongside each other.

MyListMate allows you to choose the order that categories are printed on your list.

Changing the Print Order

To change the print order, first add the desired categories from the Category list on the left to the Print Order list on the right by using the add button.

You can then move the categories in the Print Order list up or down by selecting the category you want to move, and then clicking on the Move Up or Move Down button in the toolbar.

Any categories that are not specified in the Print Order list will be printed after those categories that are specified in the Print Order list.
