CastlePop - Manage your email and fight viruses and spam

BETA
Manage Your Email

CastleLotto main window
CastlePop is a POP3 compatible email program, which gives you complete control over your incoming email. Manage any number of POP3 accounts from a single interface. CastlePop even allows you to create different groups of accounts and check whole groups of accounts at one time.

CastlePop checks for new emails automatically on a schedule that you define. When CastlePop detects that there is email in any of the checked accounts, it can notify you both visually, with a message, and with a sound. If CastlePop is currently minimized to the system tray then the tray icon will also change to let you know that email is waiting.

Of course, CastlePop also allows you to check your email accounts on demand; you don’t have to wait for the next scheduled automatic check.

Please Note : CastlePop is currently in beta testing and is not yet available for purchase. You can download the beta version and try it out for free. See our Beta Program page for more details.

Fight Viruses and Spam

With the amount of spam and viruses we all receive through email these days, we need every advantage we can get to help combat it. CastlePop will help protect you from email viruses by allowing you to view your mailbox(es) without actually downloading the email onto your computer.

CastlePop allows you to preview and delete messages that you do not want to actually download to your computer, without needing to have your regular email program running. You can delete any suspect emails directly on the server, without the email ever touching your computer.

In a similar manner, protect yourself from being added to the email lists of spammers by avoiding some of their lesser known tricks. Protect yourself from webbugs by using CastlePop to pre-screen your mailbox(es). Because CastlePop does not actually run scripts or display formatted HTML emails, webbugs just don't work and therefore they won't validate your email address to the spammers. While this may not have an immediate impact on decreasing the amount of spam you receive, it will save you from an ever increasing amount of spam.

CastlePop lets you delete unwanted emails directly on the server. They will never reach your computer and therefore cannot cause any damage on your computer. This can also help you to save bandwidth by not downloading large emails which you do not want to view.

CastlePop can be started automatically when Windows starts and can be minimized to the system tray to keep it out of the way while you work.

CastlePop is a very powerful tool, while still being very easy to set up and use.

A little bit about webbugs

A webbug is a 1x1 pixel image that is embedded in an email's html code. Normally, an email client would fetch an image from the server specified in the HTML code. However, with a webbug, instead of simply fetching an image, the server instead invokes a CGI program or script that logs information about that particular email.

Spammers are able to use webbugs by encoding your email address into a return link to their server when they send email to you. When you view the HTML email in your email program, the webbug link is 'fetched' from the server. This runs a script on the spammers server which validates your email as 'live'. 'Live' email addresses are those that have real people on the other end checking them regularly. These are a valuable commodity to spammers.

Don't give in to webbugs. Download the beta version of CastlePop and try it out. Please note that to gain access to the Beta section of our site, you need to sign up for the free Castle newsletter.
